Shared Link Traffic uses a specially designed set of utilities combining the best of cgi scripts, php, xml, css, html and javascript. We have tried to make the installation as simple as possible.
If you are reading this, then you probably have already downloaded our special install program. If not you can download it here. If the script does not install correctly or you are running on a non Windows system, it may be necessary to manually install the scripts. You can download the required install files for SLT here. There is a readme file inside to explain what you need to do. First let us begin with what this installation program does. It will install a file on your server called slt.cgi. This is the heart and soul of the Shared Link Traffic system. It first downloads the latest version from our server, then it updates it with your personal information, like email and Ad pricing, then uploads it to your server. It then emails you a test email to make sure the installation went OK. If so, you click the "Update Pages" button and all the latest SLT files are uploaded to a folder on your server called "slt". All that is left to do now is place your order on the order page you downloaded this from and your ready to Rock & Roll... Now lets take a step by step look at the installer interface to see exactly how it works. |

You will notice there are only 3 buttons and a number of fields that you need to enter YOUR data into. The first button "Read Docs", you have obviously already figured out :) The second button "Install Script" will first, download the latest slt.cgi script from our server, edit it with YOUR information, then upload it to your server. The third button is called "Update Pages". This will upload the template files and the latest slt link pages. Again, it first downloads the latest ones from our site, then uploads them to yours. The fields are VERY IMPORTANT!. If this information is incorrect the script will not work correctly, so make sure you enter the right information here. 1. UserName - This is the name your web hosting company gave you when you joined, to access your web server via ftp. This installation program is nothing more than a simplified FTP Client. If you do not know your UserName, check with your hosting company. 2. Password - This is the password your hosting company gave you but if you are not sure, check with your hosting company. 3. Server - This is the name of your web site that you will be uploading to. DO NOT enter http: or www, just the domain name itself! 4. CGI Path - This is the path of your cgi-bin folder. We have entered the default folder that most web hosting companies use. This is a standard setup. If the installer does not work, you may need to contact your host to find out where you can upload cgi scripts to. 5. HTTP CGI Path - This is the path you can reach your cgi-bin folder from a browser, just edit the default with your domain name and you should be set. 6. Blog Title - We have included a very easy to use Blog. This allows you to enter information, comments, tips, etc. for your web visitors to read about. It also allows them to enter their own comments as well. 7. Blog Password - This allows you to log into the Admin area of the Blog program so you can put new entries or edit existing items or comments. 8. Main Email - This is you main email account that will be used to send you notices when new sales are made as well as any updates from SharedLinkTraffic.com. 9. PayPal Email - You MUST have a PayPal account to take advantage of all the services of SharedLinkTraffic. With this email address, you will be able to receive payment for membership and Ads on your site. If you do not have a PayPal account, get one now, it is FREE. Here is the link. 10. StormPay Email - You MUST have a StormPay account to take advantage of all the services of SharedLinkTraffic. With this email address, you will be able to receive payment for membership and Ads on your site. If you do not have a StormPay account, get one now, it is FREE. NOTE: You only really have to have one account, either a Paypal or StormPay, but both are FREE to join, so don't lose out on any possible sales, just because you do not have both! 11. AD Pricing - While SharedLinkTraffic will determine the pricing on becoming a member, you have control over what you wish to charge for Ads on your SLT link pages. The price you enter here, is what visitors will pay to buy AD space on your page. This information is saved into the cgi script, so if at a later date, you want to change the price, you can simply edit the slt.cgi script. 12. AD URL - By default there must be at least one Paid Advertisement. We put our PowerWebTools as the default, but you can change this is you wish. 13. AD Title - This is the Title for the link on your default AD. 14 AD Description - This is the Description for the link on your default AD. You keep 100% of the money collected on AD orders. Ads are saved in a file in the slt folder called sltads.js. When a visitor buys an AD from you, it is not automatically added. This is to protect you from people trying to scam you on the order. When the order is placed, an email is sent to you. In that email is a link you need to click to ADD the order. Once you verify payment has been made, click the link and it will be added to the list of Paid Ads. Each AD sold will appear on ALL link pages in your slt folder, so if we have 10 pages, you can let your visitors know that their AD will appear on 10 different pages on your site. Each AD will stay active for 30 days, then will be removed. ALL Ads rotate each time someone visits the page, so you do not have to worry about being the last Ad, as they ALL rotate! When the AD has completed its cycle, an email is automatically sent to your customer to let them know and sends them a link to take out another AD. Below are a few tips... If the script does not function properly, it may need to be edited manually. Either download the script listed above or if it uploaded, you can download and edit it. Make sure the perl and sendmail paths match that of your server. We have used what most systems use as a default, but there is always a chance your server is different. When SLT is installed, it creates a folder called "slt on your root directory so it would be http://www.YourDomain.com/slt You need to put a link to this on your Home Page. It does not matter where you place the link on the page, but there HAS to be a link to the SLT folder for the search engines to locate! Inside the folder will be an index.html file which is just that, an index to all the link pages in the folder. Also included are two files that you can customise to match the look and feel of your site. These are sltheader.html and sltfooter.html. There are links to mystyle.css & myinfo.js in these files as well as default banner ads. Edit the css and js files to enter your look and feel for the SLT pages as well as your information for added revenues from SearchFeed.com, Google's AdSense and ClickBank.com. You can edit these however you want. There is a section that needs to be left alone in the javascript area, but it clearly states DON'T EDIT BETWEEN THESE LINES so leave those alone :) We welcome you as a new member and hope you see much success from Shared Link Traffic.
